Ferran Torres 1st substitute to score in World Cup final since Gotze in 2014

 In the final of this FIFA World Cup, substitute Ferran Torres broke the deadlock in the 106th minute of extra time, helping Spain take a 1-0 lead against Argentina.

According to Stats Foot, Ferran Torres thus became the first substitute player to score in a FIFA World Cup final since Gotze in 2014.

Coincidentally, in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, Gotze also scored against Argentina, and that goal also occurred in extra time (113th minute), with Germany ultimately defeating Argentina 1-0 to win the championship.
