7 out of 13 European teams advance to World Cup quarterfinals

 In the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup, 7 of the 13 European teams successfully advanced. France, Spain, and Portugal won their all-European clashes, while Norway, England, Belgium, and Switzerland all eliminated African teams.

Of the 6 eliminated teams, Sweden, Austria, and Croatia lost in all-European clashes, Germany was eliminated by South American team Paraguay in a penalty shootout, the Netherlands was eliminated by African team Morocco in a penalty shootout, and Bosnia and Herzegovina lost 0-2 to CONCACAF host USA.

In the Round of 16, there is one all-European clash between Portugal and Spain; France, Norway, and Switzerland will face South American teams Paraguay, Brazil, and Colombia, respectively, while England and Belgium will face hosts Mexico and USA, respectively.
