Ecuador stuns Germany, advances to World Cup knockout stage for second time in history

 In a FIFA World Cup group stage match that just concluded, Ecuador surprisingly defeated Germany 2-1, securing their spot in the knockout stage.


In this match, Ecuadorian players fought with all their might, with Plata and Angulo scoring the goals that helped the team come from behind to beat Germany.

After the victory, Ecuador earned 4 points, securing a spot in the knockout stage as the group runner-up.

This is the second time in Ecuador's history that they have advanced from the FIFA World Cup group stage. They had previously participated in four FIFA World Cup tournaments, only advancing once before in 2006. In that year, they were eliminated by England in the round of 16, which remains their best historical performance.
