T ishe Independiente winger is rewarded for his brilliant overhead kick in an Argentinian Liga Profesional de Fútbol match.

The FIFA Puskás Award 2025 has been awarded to Santiago Montiel for his spectacular overhead kick for Argentinian outfit Independiente against Independiente Rivadavia.
The golazo took place during an Argentinian Liga Profesional de Fútbol match during May 2025, with the 25-year-old cousin of Argentina World Cup hero Gonzalo Montiel defying the laws of physics and firing in a left-footed laser from outside the area.
"I didn't think about it, I just hit it," said Montiel following his super strike.
Montiel's moment was magic was nominated alongside ten other sparkling candidates. He becomes the second successive Argentinian to claim the award, following in the footsteps of Alejandro Garnacho in 2024.
The accolade is named after legendary Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskás, who was famed for his glorious individual strikes. It celebrates the most spectacular goals of the qualifying period, which was from 11 August 2024 to 2 August 2025.
