Dzeko headlines Bosnia's World Cup squad

Bosnia-Herzegovina have become the first team to announce their squad for the World Cup, with 40-year-old Edin Dzeko leading the team this summer.

AS: Barcelona believes Joan deserves Spain call-up, but de la Fuente stands firm

According to AS, pressure is quietly but steadily mounting on Luis de la Fuente to call up Joan García ahead of the upcoming UEFA-CONMEBOL Club Challenge. Barcelona have been firm in their stance, insisting the goalkeeper deserves a place in Spain’s next squad.

Reports suggest the significant pressure has not swayed De la Fuente, who remains loyal to Unai Simón. It was the Athletic Club goalkeeper who anchored Spain’s goal during qualifying and helped the team secure their place in the tournament.

Simón’s starting position is not in question. The debate is whether Joan García merits one of the two remaining goalkeeping spots, currently held by David Raya and Alex Remiro.

Either way, some believe Joan García is not suited to a backup role, making it likely better to keep the existing setup. Furthermore, the final decision will take time, with the coaching staff aiming to remain cautious. Joan García will become a Spain international sooner or later — his time just hasn’t come yet.
