Bosnia-Herzegovina have become the first team to announce their squad for the World Cup, with 40-year-old Edin Dzeko leading the team this summer.

AFCON 2025: Diatta eyes first continental trophy

As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Egypt approaches, Krépin Diatta is showing particular determination.

More than just a collective goal, this match represents a decisive step in the Senegalese winger’s personal quest: to finally win the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

Crowned African champions in 2022, Senegal had to cope without the AS Monaco player, who was forced to withdraw due to injury.

It was a bittersweet memory for Diatta, who was happy for his country’s triumph but deprived of the joy of experiencing this historic moment on the pitch. Now, at 26, he has his sights set on filling that void by adding his name to the continental trophy cabinet.

“Winning a trophy with my country has always been a childhood dream,” he said in an interview with RTS.

“I missed the 2022 edition due to injury, but I was immensely happy for Senegal. The most important thing is always the nation. I’ve lost finals, I’ve been absent, and I sincerely hope that this time will be the right one.”

After a successful tournament in Morocco, Krépin Diatta has established himself as one of the key players in the Senegalese team.
