Dzeko headlines Bosnia's World Cup squad

Bosnia-Herzegovina have become the first team to announce their squad for the World Cup, with 40-year-old Edin Dzeko leading the team this summer.

Monaco’s Vanderson to undergo surgery, putting his World Cup hopes in jeopardy

AS Monaco’s Vanderson (24) will undergo surgery on his left thigh and could be sidelined for at least three months, according to Globo.

After being forced off with an injury during Monaco’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain (1-3) last Friday, the Brazilian right-back is now ruled out of the friendly matches against France and Croatia on 26th May and 1st April.

A terrible blow for the Rondonópolis native, whose chances of competing in the World Cup in the United States are greatly diminished. And with good reason, since Carlo Ancelotti will announce the list of players selected for the competition on 19th May, several weeks before Vanderson’s expected return to the pitch.

Having also been injured and ruled out of the March international break, his teammate Caio Henrique (28) is expected to return to action in April, giving him the opportunity to convince his manager to select him for the tournament.
